Brand Finance, as scheduled, has released the Brand Finance 2023 report with the top 500 brands, of which the top 10 most valuable brands in the world are not too unfamiliar names.

Some quick insights from this year's report:

Amazon is the world's most valuable brand, despite losing $51 billion in value

Apple loses top spot after losing $57.6 billion

Tesla and BYD are among the world's fastest-growing brands as demand for electric vehicles increases

David Haigh, Chairman and CEO of Brand Finance, commented:

“Technology brands around the world have lost significant value due to changing demand patterns. Inflation has affected brands across many sectors, but as consumer habits partially return to pre-pandemic levels, demand for technology brands' services has been particularly severely affected. In addition, disrupted supply chains, labor shortages and greater financial headwinds have left their mark.”

A total of 48 technology brands made the list, down two from 50 in 2022, after Snapchat and Twitter were dropped. Other tech-focused brands that lost value included Samsung Group (down 7% to $99.7 billion), Alibaba.com (down 56% to $10 billion), Facebook (down 42% to $59.0 billion) and WeChat (down 19% to $50.2 billion).

On the positive side, Instagram (brand value up 42% to $47.4 billion) and LinkedIn (brand value up 49% to $15.5 billion) grew in the tech space, with each brand’s value increasing thanks to well-executed strategies to commercialize their services.
